Mr. and Mrs. Warren Pilgram of Hempfield Township celebrated 60 years of marriage June 29, 2008, with a family dinner in Hickory Grille in Hermitage, followed by a larger family get-together at their farm.
They were married June 26, 1948, in Second Presbyterian Church, Mercer, by the Rev. Ferdimare Vogan. A reception followed in the Hotel Humes, Mercer.
Mr. Pilgram graduated from the former Fredonia-Delaware High School, attended Youngstown State University and graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was employed by Pan-American Airways in Africa and India.
He was employed 27 years at Youngstown 910 Troop Carrier Base as an air reserve technician where his duties included flight engineer and aircraft maintenance supervisor. He retired in 1984 and returned to work on his family farm.
Mrs. Pilgrim graduated from Mercer High School and Grove City College. She was employed by Thiel College, Greenville, as secretary to President Chauncey G. Bly and later at Mercer County Courthouse in various posts including director of registrations and elections. She is now retired.
The Pilgrams are active members of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville.
He is past master of Eureka Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, Greenville; and a member of Mercer County Shrine Club; New Castle Consistory; Zem Zem Shrine, Erie; Kinan’s Club, Greenville; and Hempfield Township Republican Committee.
Mrs. Pilgram is past worthy high priestess of White Shrine Lodge and a member of Hempfield Township Republican Committee. She is vice chair of the Republican Party and was the last president of the Greenville Area Girl Scout Council before it merged into Penn Lakes Council.
They are parents of Kathleen Nallo and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Larry Nallo, Sinking Springs, Pa.; and Patricia Baura and her husband, Kerry Baura, and Kern Pilgram and his wife, Karen, all Hempfield Township. They have eight grandchildren.
