The Rev. Charles W. Johnson Jr., their pastor at Cedar Avenue Church of God in Sharon, offered a prayer. The couple also enjoyed a private dinner at Red Lobster, Hermitage.

Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Martin, 7834 Budd St., Masury, were honored with a gathering for family and close friends in their home in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary. The Rev. Charles W. Johnson Jr., their pastor at Cedar Avenue Church of God in Sharon, offered a prayer. The couple also enjoyed a private dinner at Red Lobster, Hermitage.

The former Martha Luella Tuck and Martin were married Oct. 30, 1948, in the former First Baptist Church, Farrell, by the Rev. Virgil Davis.

Mr. Martin retired in 1982 after 34 years from Sharon Steel Corp.’s former Farrell plant. He was a slitter operator for 22 years in the company’s Farrell finishing department. He also worked at the former Dan’s Foreign Cars, Sharon, where he rebuilt Volkswagen engines.

A U.S. Army Air Force veteran, he served as a corporal in the 94th Aviation Squadron in Pueblo, Colo. He is a carrier for The Herald in Masury and Hubbard.

A homemaker, Mrs. Martin formerly was an active member of Crowder-Stewart Chapter 13 of Blue Star Mothers of America, Farrell. She served as president for several years and was a past secretary. She previously held many state positions in the organization’s Pennsylvania division, including department president, historian, treasurer and financial and recording secretaries. She is a former national historian and flag guard for the Blue Star Mothers.

The Martins are active members of Cedar Avenue Church of God, where he is a former secretary of the trustee board; and a past president and former member of the usher board. He also serves as a maintenance director for the church van ministry and is a past member of the sanctuary choir.

Mrs. Martin is a church mother, an elder, a former longtime Sunday school teacher for the kindergarten class and a former usher. She also serves with the hospitality committee, the Family Life Center Planning Committee, Women of the Church of God, the Children’s Ministry, Food Pantry and previously, the church’s sanctuary choir.

Their children and spouses are Osborne W. Martin Jr., Masury; Elders Thomas M. and Brenda Martin, Youngstown; James H. and Marcia L. Gregory, Farrell; and Clifford D. and Dala Y. Barrow, Hubbard.

Completing the family are their grandchildren, Omar, William “Billy”; Brian and his wife Tamara; Jason, Althea, Chanda; Eric and his wife Marlene; Shanté, John; Toia and her husband Erik; Amanda and Clifford Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Kendra, Chaella, Kenny, Brianna, Yvette Synclaire, Jaylah, Myles, Emory, Deion, Taylor and Joshua.

A daughter-in-law, Beverly “B.J.” Martin, is deceased.
