Boil-water advisory issued for parts of Brookfield, Hubbard Township

— An advisory to boil water for some Brookfield and Hubbard Township residents is expected to last until Friday morning, the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer’s Department said.
Boiling was advised until further notice Wednesday morning after a water line burst near Thomas Road and state Route 82, said Rex Fee, executive director of the department.
Streets included in the advisory are Chestnut Ridge, Masury-Hubbard and Hubbard Thomas Roads; Vanness Avenue; North Price and Stiver streets; and Richardson Drive.
The streets are part of the department’s Brookfield Water System, Fee said.
The changing temperatures this week ranging from freezing to those in the 60s likely contributed to the line burst, Fee said.
The department is waiting for results of tests on the water before it can lift the advisory to boil, Fee said.
“What sets us back a little bit is the holidays,” he added. “We’re trying to get these samples tested as quickly as possible.”
To kill any germs that may have gotten into the system, water should be brought to a rapid boil for 3 to 4 minutes before use, the department said.
