SHARON — Sharon OKs $20,000 loan for kitchen store

SHARON – A store set to open next month is getting a boost from Sharon’s revolving loan fund for small businesses.

Council approved a loan Thursday for Thyme in Your Kitchen at 79 E. State St. The $20,000, five-year loan is at 1.95 percent interest.

The application had been reviewed and recommended by the Sharon Economic and Community Development Commission and was unanimously approved by council.

“Welcome to the family of small businesses in the city,” Council President Ed Palanski told John Evans, whose wife Patricia, will operate the store.

The boutique will sell quality dinnerware, cookware, bakeware and accessories, Evans said, and it will offer cooking demonstrations as well as classes for children and adults.

Evans, a loan officer at First National Bank, is a member of the city commission, but he had recused himself from the loan review committee that recommended its approval to council.

Thyme in Your Kitchen will open March 29. Phone: 724-704-0124;
