Hoyt uncorks 7th annual Wine Festival on May 17

NEW CASTLE — The Hoyt Institute of Fine Art’s wine festival is from 7 to 11 p.m. May 17.
The 7th annual event features 12 of the Golden State’s finest vintages ranging from a 2003 Merryvalle Profile to a 2006 Forestville Riesling.
The festival helps raise funds for the museum’s free public programming, including the Children’s Summer Art Festival, gallery admission, and school programs. All are made possible by the success of the event and its components, including a raffle for a trip for two to the Napa Valley and an original watercolor by artist Thomas G. McNickle.
The event also features a silent auction of wine, art, and entertainment baskets contributed by local vendors. The Neon Swing X-perience will also perform and there will be a vodka bar and food by Medure’s Catering. A gourmet crepe station will prepare to order from the terrace while an assortment of grilled flatbread pizzas, homemade wontons, miniature chicken Wellingtons, miniature crab cakes, spring rolls, cheese boards, fresh fruit, and numerous desserts will be dished up inside.
Reservations are required. Tickets are available at $85 or $75 for members by calling 724-652-2882. Tickets for the McNickle painting are $10 each or 3 for $25. Tickets for the Napa Valley trip — including transportation, accommodations, wine tours, and lunch on the wine train — are $100 with a 1 in 40 chance to win.
