Local students receive credit union scholarships
GROVE CITY –– Grove City Area Federal Credit Union has given $500 scholarships to:
• Emily Robinson of Grove City, a senior at California University of Pennsylvania. She plans to attend law school.
• Marchelle Yatsko of Fredonia, a senior at Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage. Starting in the fall plans to work on a degree in the medical profession at Chatham University in Pittsburgh.
Both submitted an essay on how they expect a post high school education and experience at a college or vocational trade school will better prepare them professionally and personally for the financial world.
• Kathryn Brown of Grove City was won the Shenango Valley Credit Union Chapter scholarship. She attends St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa.
Juneteenth celebration, ‘Me and Mini Me’ set
FARRELL — “Our Community and Our Youth” will be the theme of Juneteenth 2008 from noon to dusk June 13 at Veterans Square and Federal Street, between Darr and Spearman avenues in Farrell. Parade lineup will be 9 a.m.; and its start, 10:30 a.m. A car show, stop teams, mimes, games, food vendors and entertainment also are planned. There will be a gospel explosion at 7 p.m.
A “Me and ‘Mini’ Me” father and son look-a-like contest will be June 14. Registration and info: 724-981-3856.
