Tire recycling

Shenango River Watchers will host a tire recycling day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (or earlier if the truck is filled) at The Reynolds Drive-In on Route 18 in Reynolds. No tires will be accepted with the rims still attached. Please bring your driver’s license to prove Mercer County residency.

Memorial Day flag

The Flag Manual requires the American Flag be flown at half staff from sunrise to noon Memorial Day. At noon, the flag can be raised to full staff.

Holiday police patrols

State police will be conducting checkpoints and patrols aimed at curbing drunken driving, aggressive driving, speeding and motorists who are not wearing seat belts during the Memorial Day weekend. Police hope to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities suffered in traffic crashes.

ID cards for veterans

Any veteran who has a Veterans Affairs ID card without a photo or an ID card with a Social Security number listed on it must obtain a new, secure ID card, which protects vital information with a bar code.

New ID cards will be processed at the Hermitage VA Clinic, Kerrwood Drive, Hermitage, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Cleanup day

Shenango Township semi-annual cleanup is Saturday. House-to-house pickup is for residents who regularly use Tri-County garbage bags or totes.
