Programs

• Families with children or who are caring for children are invited to join a six-week healthy eating and exercise program at the NAACP office, 700 Hamilton Ave., Farrell. The program is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, on July 9, 16, 23 and Aug. 6, 13 and 20.

Please register in advance with nurse Emmagene Williams, 724-347-3181. The event is sponsored by the Mercer County NAACP, Penn State Co-op Extension of Mercer County and Minority Health Center.

• Enjoy a relaxing afternoon stroll through the woods from 1 to 3 p.m. July 12 at McKeever Environmental Learning Center.

This guided, leisurely-paced two-mile long walk will include a few natural history stops discussing the plants and animals found along the way.

Participants are responsible for their own drinking water and weather-appropriate clothing. Participants can also bring a snack if desired. The trail may contain uneven terrain.

Program will begin at the Information Shelter. Sunday strolls will be offered the second Sunday of every month from July through October.

Bus trip

• Penn Power retirees will be traveling to Seneca Allegany on July 22. The bus will depart Kmart parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $30 per person with $20 in coin and $5 food casino bonus.
