Programs
Families with children or who are caring for children are invited to join a six-week healthy eating and exercise program at the NAACP office, 700 Hamilton Ave., Farrell. The program is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, on July 9, 16, 23 and Aug. 6, 13 and 20.
Please register in advance with nurse Emmagene Williams, 724-347-3181. The event is sponsored by the Mercer County NAACP, Penn State Co-op Extension of Mercer County and Minority Health Center.
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon stroll through the woods from 1 to 3 p.m. July 12 at McKeever Environmental Learning Center.
This guided, leisurely-paced two-mile long walk will include a few natural history stops discussing the plants and animals found along the way.
Participants are responsible for their own drinking water and weather-appropriate clothing. Participants can also bring a snack if desired. The trail may contain uneven terrain.
Program will begin at the Information Shelter. Sunday strolls will be offered the second Sunday of every month from July through October.

Bus trip
Penn Power retirees will be traveling to Seneca Allegany on July 22. The bus will depart Kmart parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m.
Cost is $30 per person with $20 in coin and $5 food casino bonus.

Brookfield High School class of 1960 meets for lunch at 1 p.m. Monday at Panera, Hermitage.
All classmates are invited to attend to give input on the 50th class reunion in 2010.
Farrell High School class of 1979 will hold a planning meeting for their 30th class reunion at 6 p.m. today at Dannys restaurant.

Picnic
Sharon Steel Retirees hold their annual picnic at noon July 9 in shelter 3 of Buhl park.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share and an item for the white elephant sale. Bring your own table service. Hot dogs will be provided.
There will be bingo and cards.
All hourly Sharon Steel retirees are welcome.
Fundraisers
St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, is having a lamb roast July 12.
The following items will also be available: Lamb for $10 a pound; chicken, $7 each; pogacha, $3.50; apple strudel, $7; sugar doughnuts, $7 a dozen; and $3.50 for a half dozen.

Seeds of Faith Ministry cooks every Thursday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Recreational Facility, 1108 Fruit Ave., Farrell.

The annual Lilly reunion begins at noon July 11 at the Lackawannock Township Building, Route 318. Lunch at 12:30 p.m. and supper at 5:30 p.m.
