Art

• Sculptor James Myford and his wife Betty of Grove City show their collection of works by other artists through July 24 at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle. “Prints by Sculptors,” a collection of etchings, lithographs, aquatints, woodcuts, collages, serigraphs, and silk-screens is accompanied by an exhibit of Myford’s own abstract aluminums that range in size from several inches to several feet tall. Also on display: contemporary work of printmaker Art Werger. Gallery hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. • Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, through Sunday is exhibiting black and white gelatin silver images taken by Academy Award-winning actress and accomplished photographer Jessica Lange. The exhibit shows her photos taken all over the world, courtesy of Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York City. Her prints offer both a unique and candid view of humanity. The Butler also features the works of Stephen Cartwright on real, fictional and modified landscapes. See the exhibit through Aug. 20 in the museum at 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown. And through Aug. 23 see “Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009): A Tribute.” This special exhibition, drawn from the museum’s collection and private holdings, pays tribute to the Wyeth heritage and includes works by the late Andrew Wyeth and his son, Jamie Wyeth. • “Artie Gras” continues from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Sept. 3 in the Quaker Steak & Lube parking lot, Sharon. Local artists, photographers, antique dealers and artisans from Pennsylvania and Ohio are invited to socialize and sell their handmade art. • Check out “Envisioning Edo’s Splendor: The Floating World and Beyond” and “Imagining Rome through Artists’ Eyes, 1600 through 1800” on display through July 19 in Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin (Ohio) College. Info: oberlin.edud/amam

• The Blue Heron Art Gallery, 600 Main St., Volant, will feature the photography of Alaska resident Wilma Yarnal, which won accolades from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Ms. Yarnal’s exhibit runs through Aug. 22. Info:www.theblueherongallery.com

• The Art Outreach Gallery will feature the exhibition “We Are the Change” featuring works that capture individuals, groups and programs making a difference in the community through volunteer service. • The Butler County Symphony features Brian Schaffner, Mike Simms and Mike Swigart playing as part of its “Concerts to Munch By” summer series, from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday in the symphony office building at 259 S.
