Art
• Sculptor James Myford and his wife Betty of Grove City show their collection of works by other artists through July 24 at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle. “Prints by Sculptors,” a collection of etchings, lithographs, aquatints, woodcuts, collages, serigraphs, and silk-screens is accompanied by an exhibit of Myford’s own abstract aluminums that range in size from several inches to several feet tall. Also on display: contemporary work of printmaker Art Werger. Gallery hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. • Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, through Sunday is exhibiting black and white gelatin silver images taken by Academy Award-winning actress and accomplished photographer Jessica Lange. The exhibit shows her photos taken all over the world, courtesy of Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York City. Her prints offer both a unique and candid view of humanity. The Butler also features the works of Stephen Cartwright on real, fictional and modified landscapes. See the exhibit through Aug. 20 in the museum at 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown. And through Aug. 23 see “Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009): A Tribute.” This special exhibition, drawn from the museum’s collection and private holdings, pays tribute to the Wyeth heritage and includes works by the late Andrew Wyeth and his son, Jamie Wyeth. Musical stage
• The Barbara Osche Musical Theatre Guild presents six performances of “Do Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?,” based on the book by John R. Powers. The show focuses on eight children during their Catholic elementary and high school education in the 1950s.
