Penn State-Shenango hosting K.I.D.S. program
SHARON — The Shenango Campus of Pennsylvania State University has teamed with the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission to host a comprehensive life skills program for fifth- and sixth-graders, parents, schools and area communities.
The goal is to provide a fun, safe and healthy summer camp experience, assist in positive decision-making, support personal growth and strengthen peer relationships.
The Shenango Campus field trips run 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29 through July 31 and Aug. 6. Eight different area schools will bring 30 to 45 students for a full day of workshops and activities.
Each day begins with a welcome to the students by Jammie Tomasone, Penn State-Shenango admissions counselor, followed by workshops in “Let’s Make a Movie,” “Can We Build It — Yes We Can ... Building Towers and Teamwork.”
After lunch in the Great Hall, students will have two more workshops activities, “Hands On with Healthy Hearts” and “The Search for Our Future Scavenger Hunt.”
Each day will end with a group photo at the Penn State Nittany Lion Shrine.
