Results of the annual Mercer County 4-H Livestock Sale, held Aug. 7 at the 4-H Park are:

• Grand Champion Market Steer, weighing 1,295 pounds and shown by Marshall McKean, Mercer, was purchased by Fairview Swiss Cheese, Fredonia, for $2.75 a pound.


4-H’ers sell their prized livestock



Results of the annual Mercer County 4-H Livestock Sale, held Aug. 7 at the 4-H Park are:

• Grand Champion Market Steer, weighing 1,295 pounds and shown by Marshall McKean, Mercer, was purchased by Fairview Swiss Cheese, Fredonia, for $2.75 a pound.

• Buyer of the 1,340-pound Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer, shown by Lena Aiken, New Wilmington, was Grove City Hoss’s, Springfield Township, for $2.65 a pound.

• The 257-pound Grand Champion Market Hog, shown by Emily Smith, Mercer, was purchased by Pymatuning Deer Park, Jamestown, for $5 a pound.

• Kara Mostoller, Fredonia, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog, weighing 258 pounds. It was purchased by Hadley Road Giant Eagle, Hempfield Township, and Reynolds Sparkle Market for $5.25 a pound.

• The Grand Champion Market Rabbit, weighing 3.117 pounds and shown by Alexander Mauldin, Clarks Mills, was purchased by Wagler’s Camp Perry, Clarks Mills, for $55 a pound.

• Andrew Clayton, Sandy Lake, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Rabbit, weighing 3 pounds. Dr. Stuart Anderson of Greenville bought it for $85 a pound.

• The Grand Champion Pen of Rabbits, weighing 11.9 pounds and shown by Jedediah Seltzer, Mercer, was purchased by Pizza Joe’s, Mercer-Grove City-Greenville for $25 a pound.

• Dylan Moore, Mercer, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Rabbits, weighing 15.23 pounds and purchased by Pizza Joe’s, Mercer-Grove City-Greenville for $22.50 a pound.

• Hannah Jacob, Stoneboro, was owner of the 72-pound Grand Champion Market Goat purchased by McEwen Kid Farm, Mercer, for $22.50 a pound.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat, weighing 85 pounds and owned by Chance Krumsiek, Slippery Rock, was purchased by Ed Bardella – Vote for District Judge, Jamestown, for $9 a pound.

• The Grand Champion Market Lamb, weighing 127 pounds and owned by Kara Kingsley, Volant, was purchased by McCullough’s Coolspring Farm Market & Corn Maze, Mercer, for $6 a pound.

• Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, weighing 120 pounds and owned by Tammy Reed, Grove City, was purchased by Hermitage Tractor Supply, for $5 a pound.
