FUNDRAISERS

• Penn State Shenango THON, a benefit for kids with cancer, is set for Dec. 5. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m. beginning at the Casino in Buhl Farm, Hermitage.Entry fees are: Pre-registered individual, $15; pre-registered family (up to four), $40; day-of-the-race individual, $20; and day-of-the-race family, $50. All checks should be made payable to Penn State University. Please place THON in the memo section. Pre-registration deadline is Dec. 4. Entry fee includes Miles of Smiles Timing Service T-shirt, coffee, hot chocolate and refreshments after the race. Prizes for top three overall male and female and top three in the following age groups: 19 and younger, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older. • A dinner, Chinese auction and raffle to benefit Joshua’s Haven City Mission, runs 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at Billy’s Black & Gold, Sharon. • Women’s Ministries serves a pork chop dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 2717 Valley View Road, South Pymatuning Township. Dinner includes stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, apple sauce, bread, dessert and coffee, punch or tea. Cost is $7 for adults; $4 for children age 6 to 12; and free for children younger than age 6. Info: 724-962-4000.

• A stuffed pork chop dinner will be 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Hartstown Presbyterian Church, just west of the blinker light on U.S. Route 322. Dinner includes side dishes, beverage and homemade pie. • Calvary United Methodist Church, 44 S. Mercer St., Greenville, holds a beef vegetable soup sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14. Soup will be sold by the quart. Lunch will be available and includes soup, sandwiches and homemade pie. Bring the family.

• Grove City Woman’s Club will be making apple dumplings Nov. 19. Orders are to be picked up between 3 and 5 p.m. at the Snow Goose Inn. Orders: Dorothy, 724-458-4644.

• The fifth annual missions auction at Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church, 3096 Sandy Lake-Grove City Road, is scheduled for Nov. 14. Doors and concessions open at 5 p.m. and auction begins at 6 p.m. Donated items include a one-hour plane ride for two including a stop for dinner, Thompson Center 50 cal cap and ball muzzleloader, a signed Hines Ward Steelers poster, furniture, a handmade quilt, gift certificates from area businesses and more. Baby-sitting available. Concessions include homemade pies, baked goods, sandwiches and more. All proceeds benefit short-term mission trips sponsored by the church. • Grace Lutheran Church Men are planning their fall kraut dinner for Nov. 14 in Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Hall Ave., Hubbard. Serving will be 4 to 6:30 p.m. or until food runs out. Dinner includes pork and kraut, mashed potatoes, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. Cost is $7 for adults; $4 for children ages 5 to 12; and free for children younger than age 5. • Monsignor Geno J. Monti School Guild will have its annual turkey bingo Nov. 15 at Fatima Hall, 1225 Union St., Farrell. Doors open at 1 p.m. and bingo begins at 2 p.m. There will be refreshments, door prizes, 50/50 and grand raffle. Admission is $3. Tickets available at the door.

• Pymatuning Joint High School class of 1953 meets for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Carini’s Restaurant, Jamestown. All classmates, spouses and friends are welcome.

• Penn Power Retirees meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 10 Tuesday at Denny’s restaurant, East State Street at North Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.The Penn Power Christmas party is Dec. 8 at the Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
