Trustees’ wish list: Tree decorations

Brookfield officials want to create a yuletide celebration and need the community’s help in making it merry and bright.

“What we’re looking for is lights and decorations for the tree we’re putting up,” township Trustee Ron Haun said.

The tree will be set up near the gazebo in the middle of the township green for the celebration on Dec. 5.

Trustees said they are trying to get a choir to sing holiday songs, and have sent letters to churches asking for their participation.

Haun said officials have tried to do something similar for Christmases past but weren’t able to set up a tree.

“I think we’re going to try to make this an annual event,” he said.

Trustees said this might give residents an extra way to celebrate.

“There are a lot of people out there who don’t have family to celebrate with,” Haun said. “It’s sad to say it, but it’s true.”

Lights are at the top of trustees’ Christmas wish list.

Anyone who wants to donate decorations may drop them off at the administration building on Strimbu Avenue during the township’s regular business hours.

Donated decorations will most likely not be returned. “They’re donating it for current and future use,” Haun said.
