MERCER COUNTY — Minority Health Center of Lawrence and Mercer counties is offering free mammograms.

The Mammogram Voucher Program provides mammograms and follow-up diagnostic services to medically uninsured and underinsured women who qualify for screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and referrals.

Early detection is the single most important factor in surviving breast cancer. All women, particularly those who are under age 40 and symptomatic, have a close relative diagnosed with premenopausal breast cancer, age 40 or over without insurance coverage for annual screenings or other risk factors are urged to use this service, sponsored in conjunction with Lawrence County Cancer Coalition, Adagio Health Inc., Family Planning Services of Mercer County, Pennsylvania Cancer Control Consortium, Jameson and Sharon Regional Health systems, Womencare Center of UPMC Horizon and NCI’s Cancer Information Service.
