Students compete in English academic games


GROVE CITY — Students in the Grove City School District competed in the English game of LinguiSHTIK this month.

In the Middle Division, the team of Erika Filer, Max Boshaw, Caden Koscinski, Bethany Hawke and Derek Richardson placed fourth with Erika, Max and Caden undefeated. Erika and Max qualified for the national tournament held in Knoxville, Tenn., in April and Caden qualified for the state tournament in March.

Also attending were Ron Howard, Zane Jones and Levi Throckmorton.

In the Elementary Division grades 5-6, the team of Connor McEwen, Spencer Pokrant, David Dennis, Megan Smith and Susannah Jackson placed first with Spencer, Connor, Megan and Susannah undefeated and all qualified for the national tournament and David qualified for the state tournament.  Richard Blackburn and Alex Hemmerlin were also undefeated and qualified for the state tournament.

Also attending were Mary Beth Coulter, Kiana Fleeger and Cael McEwen.

In the 3rd and 4th grade division, the team of Aaron Jackson, Jacob Irani, Abby Steffler, Renee Mercer and Colin Gardner placed third with Aaron and Colin undefeated and qualifying for the national tournament. The team of JT Brown, Autumn Burkett, Cassie Smith, Reilly Helmininack and Paige Gray placed sixth with Autumn undefeated and qualifying for nationals. Justy Brown was undefeated and qualified for the state tournament.

Also attending were Abbey Nichols, Madison Hammell and Molly Hohmann.
