Food pantry seeks soothers, germ killers

GROVE CITY — The Grove City Community Food pantry wants everyone to eat well and stay healthy, especially their clients.

“Many of our clients are infants and seniors, which means they are particularly at risk,” said executive director Traci Turner.

“For that reason, we are requesting all over-the-counter products that will help them prevent or fight off their symptoms.”

The food pantry cannot accept prescription medications or “behind-the-counter” medications, but they can accept a wide range of products that are specifically targeted for the cold and flu season. Some suggestions:

• Fever-reducing medicines like ibuprofen and acetaminophen for adults, children, and infants.

• Cough drops and lozenges.

• Tissues and toilet paper.

• Mentholated chest rubs.

• Nausea and diarrhea remedies.

• Over-the-counter cold medicines.

• Nasal sprays.

Germ killers

• Antibacterial dish detergent.

• Household cleaners.

• Hand soap.

• Bleach.

Under-the-weather food

• Fruit juice.

• Canned fruit.

• Jello and pudding.

• Saltines and pretzels.

• Canned soup and boxed soup mixes.

• Tea bags.

• Ginger ale.

All contributions will be warmly accepted at 114 S. Center St.

Tax-deductible donations will also be accepted in person, through the mail, or through the secure online donation feature at the pantry’s website:

The food pantry is supported by the Grove City Area United Way, organizations, churches, and individuals throughout the community. Anyone in need of food pantry services or anyone interested in volunteering can call Traci Turner at 724-458-5208.
