Sunday and 9, 16, 23, 30 — Mercer County Historical Society tours of the Caldwell One-Room School and garden on state Route 58 between Mercer and Greenville and the Rural Life Museum on the grounds of Woodland Place on Route 58 near Mercer.
Monday — Independence Day Celebration River City Brass Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Brittain Lake on the campus of Westminster College, New Wilmington. Concert followed by fireworks. Bring your own chairs. Free. Info: 724-946-7371

4 — Community Patriotic Program on the campus of Grove City College. Festivities kick off at 8 p.m. with a military program by the Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic salute to all military, past and present on t`he upper campus of Grove City College.
Everyone will receive a free American flag donated by the American Legion of Grove City.
Fireworks by Kellner Fireworks will entertain at 10 p.m.

Social services group sets 1st recognition event
Isaiah 49, Inc. will have its First Annual Community Recognition Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 26 at The Corinthian in Sharon. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by Sunday.
4-H Roundup highlights youth
The Mercer County 4-H Roundup will be held July 28 through Aug. 3 at the Mercer 4-H Park, located on Route 19 north of Mercer. New activities and opportunities are planned for the public this year.

ATV Safety Day set for Saturday
Community ATV Safety Day will be Saturday at Bayview ORV Riding Area on Shenango Lake, Route 846 in South Pymatuning Township. There will be a youth class, safety demonstrations and demo rides.

Heart Walk site, child, chairman, date announced
Mercer/Lawrence Counties Heart Walk will be held Sept. 27 on the campus of Westminster College, New Wilmington, and the American Heart Association has tabbed James Buttermore as chairman of the event. Emmie Grace Biro, who was born with two congenital heart defects, is this year’s Heart Walk Child.

Clinic helps control cat population
For the sixth year in a row, Grove City Area Pet Rescue has teamed up with Animal Friends of Pittsburgh to offer a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for cats through a mobile unit set up in Plain Grove Township.
