Frostbite footrace set for Thursday

The annual Frostbite Foodtaste Footrace makes its return Thursday night to raise money for the Prince of Peace Center’s Help Heat Homes campaign.

More than 600 people are expected to make the route to 10 of Sharon’s watering holes, where they will “taste” each establishment’s specialty food items and beverages.

Participating in this year’s race are the ACT, The Russian Club, Billy’s Black & Gold, Our Gang’s Lounge, Side Pocket Café, The Marigold, Chestnut St. Café, Quaker Steak & Lube, an outdoor “Tailgate Stop,” catered by Penn Pilsner and Basilone’s of Farrell, with a final stop at Tully’s for trophies and prizes.

Entry forms are available at any participating location or Thursday at the pre-registration party at Quaker Steak & Lube between 4 and 6 p.m. or at the ACT on Sharpsville Avenue from 6 to 7 p.m. The first 700 registrants will receive a free T-shirt and novelty hat to wear during the race.

The Frostbite Foodtaste Footrace, which begins at the ACT, is a charity race with proceeds from the $12 entry fees donated to the Help Heat Homes program. Last year’s race raised $5,000 for the program.
