SHARON — Community Library of the Shenango Valley, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, offers these activities for February:

• Story hour, songs and crafts for ages 3 to 5, 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

• Kids crafts for ages 5 and older, 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays.

• Kindermusik, 10:30 a.m. Feb. 21, March 21 and April 25. Registration required: 724-981-4360.

• Primary Health Network offers Affordable Health Care Act application assistance, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 and March 4. Learn step by step how to enroll for health care free of charge.

• Shenango Valley Urban League sponsors these African American History Month matinee movies at 2 p.m.

“Selma, Lord, Selma” (not rated) on Feb. 22.

• Introduction to Social Media, 6 p.m. Feb. 11. Learn to create and navigate a Facebook page to stay connected with family and friends. Other social media sites such as Pinterest and Twitter will also be addressed. Registration required: 724-981-4360.

• Mercer County Historical Society: The Underground Railroad, 6 p.m. Feb. 19. Learn about the role Mercer County played in the Underground Railroad and the many Underground Railroad locations throughout the county. Program will be presented by Mercer County Historical Society Director Bill Philson.

• Chess club, 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Find a challenging partner to play; new members always welcome.

• Knit, Crochet and More for all levels of experience, 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. Take your needlework. Get tips, ideas, and new patterns.

• Computer classes:

Beginners, 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Feb. 24. Learn the basics of surfing the Internet, writing a letter, sending an e-mail and more.

Microsoft Excel, 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through Feb. 27. Learn the basics of this program for creating spreadsheets and more.

• Fine Arts Painting: Watercolor and Acrylics from artist Don Gold, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and 22 and March 8 and 22. Register: 724-981-4360.

• Electronic Gadget workshop, by appointment between 2 and 5 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19. Learn to download library books and how to use your iPad, iPhone, Kindle, KindleFire, Nook, Android or tablet. Free. Appointments: 724-981-4360.

• Independent film and discussion: “Stuck in Love” (Rated R), starring Jennifer Connelly and Greg Kinnear, 6 p.m. Feb. 20. Watch the trailer on the library website and join the discussion the third Thursday of each month.

• Shenango Valley Gardeners meeting, 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

• Shakespeare in the Stacks, 5 p.m the third Tuesday of each month.  Read plays, watch movies, and discuss works by the Bard of Avon.

• Shenango Valley Pennwriters meeting, 1 to 4 p.m. the third Saturday of each month. Learn to sharpen skills and network with other writers. Info: Catherine McLean, 1-814-425-7163.

• Friday Night Magic, 3 to 5 p.m. Play the card game Magic: The Gathering at the Library. Meet new friends and win new cool cards.  

• Read to a Therapy Dog, 6 p.m. the last Thursday of each month in the children’s area. Sponsored by Canine Connections.

• Library Book Clubs:

Evening Book Club, 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss “Flight Behavior” by Barbara Kingsolver.

Afternoon Book Club, 2 p.m. Feb. 20 to discuss “The Dinner” by Herman Koch.  

Call the library to borrow a copy of the book and to register for either club.

• Adult basic education tutoring for those who need to brush up on their reading skills or learn to read. Any community members interested in becoming a tutor may contact the library.
