’Tis Better To Give

- — Penn State Shenango

SHARON – Penn State Shenango faculty, staff and students will be collecting mittens, gloves and hats to donate to Joshua’s Haven, the Prince of Peace Center, and West Hill Ministries as part of its “Operation Warm Hands” during the Hermitage Light Up Night Parade on Nov. 23. Look for the decorated collection bins beside the Penn State Shenango “Winter Wonderland” float.

Donations will also be accepted on campus in Sharon Hall Room 200 on Penn Avenue in Sharon.

Purchase and donate a hat or a pair or two of mittens or gloves so no child or adult goes without them this winter.

Info: 724-983-2860.

Hermitage Goodfellows

HERMITAGE – Hermitage Goodfellows will again be assisting families at Christmas. The Goodfellows will deliver food and toys on Christmas Eve. Last year the Goodfellows delivered to more than 120 families and elderly residents of Hermitage.

The Goodfellows have been helping families for well over 50 years. Anyone wishing to drop off canned goods or toys may do so at the Hermitage Municipal Garage on Virginia Road; Fire Station 1 on Highland Road; or Rice Pool and Spa, 3604 E. State St., all in Hermitage.

New toys for boys and girls ages 9 to 13 are needed this year.

Requests for families in need or monetary donations should be addressed to Hermitage Goodfellows and sent to Box 1011, Hermitage 16148. Any requests for assistance should include first names and ages of all children.

Hickory United Methodist Church

The items will be distributed through AWARE, Children’s Aid Society, Good Shepherd Center in Greenville and Prince of Peace Center in Farrell.
