Volunteer for 1st WaterFire workday

SHARON — Volunteers are needed to help assemble the 55 braziers that will be placed in the Shenango River to hold the wood that will be burned during this year’s Waterfire Sharon festivals on July 19, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27.

The first workday is from 9 a.m. to early afternoon Saturday in the parking lot of Quaker Steak & Lube, Sharon.

Most of the work that day will involve lifting. All tools and work gloves will be provided.

Staging of each festival requires about 350 volunteers.

Anyone interested in helping either on Saturday or at one of the festivals is asked to contact Missa Eaton at volunteer@waterfiresharonpa.org

All volunteers for the festivals are asked to attend one of three meet-and-greet orientation sessions set for 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon June 28 or 7 to 9 p.m. July 2 in the Festhalle at Apollo Maennerchor Club, 391 S. Dock St., Sharon.
