The 1831 Joel Miner home, located next door, housed groups of fugitives in the barn. The funeral home across the street, originally a hotel, also served as a station.

The historical society will have displays of books and historical items, food and homemade pie. There will be entertainment for children and adults.

Markers are awarded based on historical significance, geographic diversity and historical periods. This marker was researched by the Brookfield Historical Society and the Ohio Historical Society.
