- — Grove City food pantry needs Easter donations

GROVE CITY – Grove City Community Food Pantry, 114 S. Center St., is asking for donations of traditional Easter food items for distribution April 11 and 12.

With hams donated by American Legion Post 220, the pantry is asking for stuffing mix, yams, cranberries, mushroom soup, corn, green beans, gravy, mashed potatoes, pie and cake mix, canned milk and Easter candy.

Any group that would like to organize an Easter food drive should call Linda Dalassandro, food drive coordinator, at 724-510-4119.

Fit2Excel Inc. launches youth programs in Farrell

FARRELL -- Fit2Excel Inc. will host a gardening and nutrition program for Farrell youth from June 9 to Aug. 8 in Southwest Gardens Community Center, using the Media Smart Youth curriculum with a gardening space designed and maintained by the youth.

Entrepreneurship classes will be offered to ages 14-17 from July 7 to Aug. 8. The effort is supported by 4-H Penn State Shenango Extension, Junior Achievement Northwest Regional office, Southwest Gardens, the city of Farrell and Shenango Valley Gardeners.

Starbuck’s of Hermitage will host a collection bin through March 30.

In addition to engaging youth in structured, educational programs that teach a healthy lifestyle while challenging them to redesign space in the community, the program seeks to continue the 40-year legacy of Southwest Gardens by rebirthing programs that will serve children and their families.

Urban League sets Teen Money Management

FARRELL – First National Bank presents Teen Money Management from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Shenango Valley Urban League, 601 Indiana Ave., Farrell.

Teens looking for their first job or already employed will learn about ways to start saving and managing their hard- earned money. Find out about the benefits of opening your own student savings/checking accounts and get tips on how to set yourself up for a life of good credit and financial health. Participants will also learn how to maintain a check register, write checks, and read and balance a bank statement.

There will be free food provided.
