Dairy Princess hopefuls invited to tea

MERCER COUNTY — Mercer County Dairy Princess Committee is searching for girls interested in competing to become Mercer County Dairy Princess.

Reigning Princess Samantha Weber, will crown her successor on May 30 as a kickoff to celebrate “June is Dairy Month.”

“I have had a very enjoyable year traveling throughout Mercer County spreading the goodness of milk and other dairy products,” said Samantha, a daughter of Rick and Brenda Weber of Grove City.

Any single woman between the ages of 16 and 24 by July 1, whose parents or guardians are engaged in dairy farming or are employed in a dairy-related industry is eligible to compete for the title.

Candidates also are eligible if they are employed in a dairy-related business or own or lease at least one head of dairy cattle of the seven major dairy breeds in a bona fide 4-H or FFA project. Contestants must reside in Mercer County, have no children, and not marry or become pregnant during her reign.

The princess will serve for one year. She will make many appearances at schools, fairs, and grocery stores and have the opportunity to speak to civic clubs, senior citizen groups, farm and non-farm audiences and to appear on television and radio. This young lady will represent her county at a training seminar held in July and at the state pageant held in September.

Samantha extends an invitation to any girl interested in competing in the pageant to an informational tea held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Please call Paula Snyder, chairperson, 724-588-2997, for information about the tea.
