Penn State prof to give Beatles presentation
SHARON – Ken Womack, the 2013-14 Penn State University laureate and professor of English and integrative arts at Penn State Altoona, will be speaking at Penn State Shenango from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 4. The title of his presentation in Sharon Hall room 105 is “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!: The evolving artistry of the Beatles.”
Established in 2008, the Penn State laureate is a full-time university faculty member in the humanities or fine arts who is assigned for one academic year to bring an enhanced level of social, cultural, artistic and human perspective and awareness to a broad array of audiences.
In addition to teaching, Womack serves as senior associate dean for academic affairs. Womack’s presentation traces the band’s emerging songwriting practices, recording artistry, and musicianship from their early, primitive recordings through the aesthetic heights of Abbey Road. He illustrates the group’s artistic growth through a wide range of musical and film illustrations.
