• Mercer County Unit NAACP, 700 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, meets at 6 p.m. Monday at the office building.

• Mercer High School class of 1956 gathers at 9 a.m. today3/8/14  at Ryder’s Restaurant, state routes 18 and 208 in New Wilmington. All classmates, spouses and friends are welcome.

• Shenango Valley Community Gardeners will meet Monday evening in  Community Library of the Shenango Valley, Sharpsville Avenue, Sharon. Guest speaker at 6:30 p.m. is Dennis James from DJ’s Greenhouse/Gardens who will share “What’s New in 2014” and discuss some of the problems that gardeners in our area faced in 2013. The business meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m.



• Becky Sheeler will present a free program about her travels in Tanzania at 7 p.m. Monday in Jennings Environmental Education Center, state Route 528, 5 miles south of Slippery Rock. There is a free, lighted parking lot.
