A brief unveiling of six donated commemorative prints of Norman Rockwell paintings the famed illustrator did of Sharon Steel Corp. employees will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Community Library of the Shenango Valley on Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.
Donated by Dick Tonks of Sharpsville, these are not among the original 14 paintings Sharon Steel commissioned in 1966. Rockwell painted the figures only of the workers; the backgrounds were created by Tony Dennison, a Cleveland illustrator.
The prints that are being unveiled are commemorative editions published on paper.
Sharon Steel had to sell the original paintings after its second bankruptcy. The mill closed on Nov. 9, 1992.
