Kids in the News for Nov. 28, 2013

- — 8th-grade Tremendous Ten recognized

HERMITAGE – Hermitage School District has announced the Eighth Grade Tremendous Ten recipients for November.

Based on the anti-bullying character words, teachers nominate students whose actions best exemplify that specific month’s word. The word for November was trust and the students were Camille Bianco, Sabastian Brown, Jaclyn Burpich, Olivia Jacobson, Clark McQuiston, Pooja Mehta, Hailey Mele, Maddie Moder, Dominic Mymo and Evan Warren.

GC students place in math competition

GROVE CITY – Students in the Grove City School District competed in the Lawrence County Math 24 Competition in November.

Aaron Jackson finished fourth out of 27 students and Jacob Irani finished third out of 27 students in the fourth-grade division and received trophies. Aaron, Jacob, Reilly Helmininack, Colin Gardner, JT Brown and Renee Mercer all made it to the top 16 round in the fourth-grade division.

In the fifth-grade division, Cael McEwen made it to the top 16 round.

In the sixth-grade division, David Dennis, Spencer Pokrant and Megan Smith made it to the top 16 round.

Also attending were Richard Blackburn, Mary Beth Coulter, Alex Hemmerlin, Kiana Fleeger and Susannah Jackson.
