- — Athena Leadership Award nominations due Monday

Nominations for the second annual Lawrence/Mercer County Athena Leadership Award and the Athena Young Professional Leadership Award are due by Monday.

The awards honor those who have achieved excellence in her/his business, profession or community service; have served the community in a meaningful way; and have assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.

Brooks to host state firearms law seminar

GREENVILLE – Rep. Michele Brooks, Jamestown, R-17th District, will host a seminar on the state’s firearms laws from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 1 at the Reynolds VFW, 115 Edgewood Drive.

Scheduled speakers for the seminar include Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems and Mercer County Sheriff Gary Hartman.
