- — Yolanda L. DelMonaco marks 100th birthday



HERMITAGE – Yolanda “Lunda” DelMonaco will celebrate her 100th birthday Dec. 13 with a card shower.

She was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Waukesha, Wis., to John and Mary Oliva Leonetti, where she was one of 10 children.

She married Giovanni “John” DelMonaco, Sr. on Feb. 12, 1934. He died Dec. 7, 1963. She has a son, John DelMonaco Jr., and a daughter Rosemary Tice. She also has three grandchildren, Richard J. Tice, Marlana R. Tice and Susan M. Smith, and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Tice and Alyssa Tice.

Mrs. DelMonaco has one surviving brother, Fred Leonetti of Farrell, and several nieces and nephews.

She is a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where a “Mass of Thanksgiving” will be said at 9 a.m. Dec. 13.

She enjoys jigsaw puzzles and crocheting, while still able to remain in her home where she has lived for 58 years.

Westminster to host environment symposium

NEW WILMINGTON – Westminster College will host a student symposium on the environment from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday 12/5/13  in McKelvey Campus Center.

The program is sponsored by Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition and Jennings Environmental Education Center. Refreshments will be served during the networking and poster session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This is an annual event where students from regional educational institutions are invited to present their research, projects, and creative works relating to the environment or the natural world to professors, organizations, professionals, and their peers.
