2013 Buhl Day honorees are announced

MERCER COUNTY — The Buhl Day Committee has announced the 2013 honorees.

On Sept. 2, the community will honor Pat and Tom Demas of Transfer, Jim Feeney of Sharon and Tim Jablon of Clark.

They were selected because they have given “countless hours to the community in service,” according to a news release issued by the committee.

“We are pleased to honor them,” the news release said.

Buhl Day is held annually on Labor Day in honor of Shenango Valley benefactors Frank H. and Julia Buhl at their gift to the community, Buhl Farm park.

This year’s celebration will include a week of activities including a junior tennis tournament, fishing derby, women’s and men’s golf tournaments, and, of course, the Buhl Day celebration, which starts with a parade and includes day-long performances at the park’s performing arts center, a juried art show at the casino, a car show, children’s activities, a petting zoo, food booth and much more.

The event is billed by organizers as the community’s largest “picnic in the park.”
