Published May 01, 2008 01:54 pm - A funeral service will be held Saturday for Lorethea Chambers, 543 Columbia St., Sharon. At 2:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, our Heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and beckoned her home. She was 54.

A funeral service will be held Saturday for Lorethea Chambers, 543 Columbia St., Sharon. At 2:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, our Heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and beckoned her home. She was 54.

Mrs. Chambers was born Jan. 26, 1954, in Sharon, a daughter of Willie and Willar Walker Gibson.

She was a 1972 graduate of Farrell High School and in 1984, graduated from the Shenango Valley School of Business, Sharon, as a medical assistant. She was currently employed with UPMC as an office scheduler and the Sharon Community Health Center as the front office assistant. 

Mrs. Chambers was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon, where she served with the missionary board, kitchen committee and hospitality committee.

She enjoyed cooking, interior decorating and spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Willar Walker Gibson, Sharon; two sons, Marlon Chambers, Alexandria, Va.; and Lamar Gibson, Sharon; three brothers, Roy Gibson; Stephen Gibson and his wife Antonia; and Ray Gibson, all Sharon; two sisters, Virginia Gibson Thurman and her husband Robert; and Faye Winchester, both Sharon; her adopted sister, Mary Williams Johnson, Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Kimber Gibson, Youngstown; a son-in-law, Robert McCray, Battle Creek, Mich.; two grandchildren, D’Asia Chambers, whom she raised at home; and Shamar Gibson, Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Corine Gibson; a brother, Jeremiah Gibson; and a daughter, Vaughnda Chambers McCray.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 1 to 7 p.m. today (5-1-08) at 543 Columbia St. Sharon; from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday (5-2-08) in J.E. WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME Inc., 1059 Hamilton Ave., Farrell; and 10 a.m. to time of service Saturday (5-3-08) in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon. Service: Funeral celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Leon Avery Jr., pastor, officiating.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
