STANFORD, Calif. — George Vogan, Clearlake, Calif., passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Stanford Medical Center at the age of 66, after a long, heroic battle with lymphoma.

Mr. Vogan was born Feb. 17, 1942, in Sandy Lake to Elton and Frances Vogan of Sandy Lake.

George was the vice president for 27 years of Redwood Theatres, Santa Rosa, Calif. He was seen as a businessman during the week, but “Farmer John” on the weekends. A true “Mr. Fix It,” he kept himself very busy. He built two houses, two barns and started his own vineyard from the ground up.

George had many hobbies — some of his favorites were farming; duck hunting with his companion, Jody, his German short hair; and gold panning as a member of the Gold Prospectors Association of America. He was the “showman” in his 4-wheel drive club, the Golden Gate Jeepers.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Kathy; and four daughters, Julie Vogan, Oregon; Carol Cisneros, Santa Rosa; Kelly Arteaga, Rohnert Park, Calif.; and Lori Fleck, Paso Robles, Calif. He was the “best papa” to Josh and Alexis Cisneros; Robert and Nicole Arteaga; and Jimi, Joey and Jackie Fitzgerald; and “best great papa” to Bianca and Cierra Fitzgerald.

He is also survived by his brother, Dave Vogan; and his sister, June Beach, both Pennsylvania; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Frances Vogan.

We will truly miss him, but thankfully, we have fond memories to comfort us.

A funeral service was held Sunday, April 20, in Santa Rosa.
