Virginia Elizabeth Fricano DeMatteo, a former resident of Bessemer, Pa., died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 90.
Mrs. DeMatteo was born on Sunday, March 31, 1918, in Hillsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Dominic and Rose Tripoli DeMatteo.
Virginia was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Anthony’s Church, Bessemer, and was active in Christian Mothers and the church Rosary Society.
She enjoyed playing cards in a local poker club.
Her husband, Sam DeMatteo, whom she married June 29, 1941, is deceased.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: two daughters, Darlene DeMatteo, Pittsburgh; and Cynthia Matis and her family, Hermitage; two sons, Benjamin DeMatteo and his family, Hermitage; and Samuel DeMatteo and his family, Edinburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff and management of Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, for the unprecedented care, love and support they showed the family and loved ones of the DeMatteo family; and to thank them for going that extra step every time in the care of Virginia and Aunt Connie.
