Richard “Pete” L. Beil, White-Cliff Nursing Home, 110 Fredonia Road, Hempfield Township, formerly of Edgewood Drive, Reynolds, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday (5-3-08) in the nursing home after an extended illness. He was 83.
Mr. Beil was born Wednesday, June 4, 1924, in Greenville to James and Edna Saul Beil.
He worked as a highlift operator at Dunbar Slag, Wheatland, for 40 years and retired in 1989.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Beil was a member of the Teamsters and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Greenville Lodge 145.
He enjoyed gardening, John Deere tractors and time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Alice Newton, whom he married Feb. 2, 1951, at home; two daughters, Karen Merchant and her husband Bill; and Chris Bodnar and her husband Mike, all Greenville; a sister, Florence Dout, Hermitage; three grandchildren, Kristine Farrell and her husband Jeremy; William Merchant and his wife Amy; and Mikey Bodnar; and a great-grandchild, Elizabeth Farrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Eastlick and Marie McClimans; and four brothers, James Beil, Charles Beil, Ralph Beil and Howard Beil.
