Published May 08, 2008 02:43 pm - BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Arthur “Art” Weiss of 27050 Cedar Road, Suite 415, Beachwood, OH 44122, formerly of Farrell, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Menorah Park Care Center, Beachwood. He was 89.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Arthur “Art” Weiss of 27050 Cedar Road, Suite 415, Beachwood, OH 44122, formerly of Farrell, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Menorah Park Care Center, Beachwood. He was 89.
Mr. Weiss was born Oct. 8, 1918, in Farrell, a son to the late Samuel Herman and Fannie Kirschenbaum Weiss.
Art graduated in 1936 from Farrell High School and attended Youngstown State University.
He retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.
Mr. Weiss was an active member of Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, and was formerly a member of B’nai Zion Synagogue, Farrell, serving that congregation as secretary on the board of directors for 27 years before its merger with Temple Beth Israel. He taught Sunday school for many years, preparing young adults for their bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs. He was also a member of B’nai B’rith, in which he coached A.Z.A. basketball.
He married his high school sweetheart, the former Marie Bleier, on Aug. 5, 1939. She survives.
He also leaves: his daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Sheila) Kazdin, Beachwood; a son, Gary Weiss and his wife Peggy, Holmdel, N.J.; a brother, Jack Weiss and his wife Edith, Oak Park, Mich.; six grandchildren, Brian and his wife Kathie Kazdin; Jill and her husband Jon Swergold; Jonathan, Nick, Alex and Zachary Weiss; and four great-grandchildren, Tess and Drew Kazdin; and Hayden and Brandon Swergold.
Art was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bella.
