John Jay Dutcher of Sharon passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, in his residence. He was 55.

Mr. Dutcher was born Aug. 5, 1953, in Syracuse, N.Y., a son of Ralph H. and Marguerite LeBourne Dutcher.

He attended schools in Massachusetts.

Throughout his life, John worked as a carpenter, a mechanic and an electrician.

He attended St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.

A Native American, he was a member of the Blackfoot Tribe of the Seneca Indians.

John enjoyed camping, cooking, leather work and motorcycle riding.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary K. Costello Dutcher, whom he married Sept. 24, 1977; a son, John Martin Dutcher, Sharon; and three sisters, Karen Dutcher, Portsmouth, N.H.; Robin Dutcher, Corinth, Vt.; and Laurie Dutcher, New York, N.Y.

John was preceded in death by his parents.
