Retired machinist, veteran was active in Scouts
James Findley Rea of Brookfield, known as “Findley,” passed away Tuesday (7-1-08) in Hospice of the Valley Hospice House. He was 75.
Mr. Rea was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Brookfield, a son of James H. and Ethel Thomas Rea.
He was a lifelong Brookfield resident and a graduate of Brookfield High School Class of 1951.
Findley was a machinist for 42 years at Wean United Austintown (Ohio), retiring in 1993.
As a member of Paynes Corners Christian Church, Brookfield, he served as a deacon. He was a former member of Slope Congregational Church, also Brookfield.
A U.S. Army veteran, Findley served during the Korean conflict and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
He was an assistant scoutmaster for many years for Troop 62 in Brookfield. Findley enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and attending high school wrestling matches.
He leaves: his wife, the former Marguerite Fields, whom he married Nov. 25, 1954; a son, James A. Rea, Burghill; a daughter, Shari and her husband Winston Miller, Brookfield; six grandchildren, Beth, Matthew, Michael, Justin, Danny and Megan; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Alex.
He also leaves two sisters, Donna Tucci and Julia Mankas, both Hermitage.

The Rea family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Hospice House, as well as Dr. Howard Slemons and Dr. Richard Nord for all the loving care given to Findley.
