CLEVELAND — Betty J. Peterson, Niles, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 5, 2008, in University Hospitals of Cleveland. She was 80.

Mrs. Peterson was born July 11, 1928, in Sharon, the daughter of William and Charlotte Matthews Bole.

Betty was a 1946 graduate of Sharon High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in elementary education.

She was employed for 18 years as a first-grade teacher in Mathews School District before retiring in 1983.

Betty was a former member of St. John’s Church in Sharon, and enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her husband, Farrand Peterson, whom she married Jan. 16, 1947, died Jan. 5, 1979.

She will be deeply missed by: three daughters, Janis Clymer and her husband, Paul, Canfield, Ohio; and Susan Gladysz and her husband Joseph; and Cyndi Rotuna and her husband Mark, all Niles; five grandchildren, Amber Gladysz, Christopher Clymer, Justin Gladysz, Joshua Rotuna and Traci Clymer; a stepgrandchild, Ryan Rotuna and his wife Kristy; and a great-grandson, Alexander Rotuna.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William Peterson and Michael Peterson.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Heart Rehab Center, 667 Eastland Ave., Warren, OH 44484.
