Published August 20, 2008 02:19 pm - Leila R. Calhoun, Countryside Convalescent Home, 8221 Lamor Road, East Lackawannock Township, formerly of U.S. Route 19, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (8-19-08) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 87.

Leila R. Calhoun, Countryside Convalescent Home, 8221 Lamor Road, East Lackawannock Township, formerly of U.S. Route 19, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (8-19-08) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 87.

Mrs. Calhoun was born Oct. 10, 1940, in Plum Creek Township, Pa., to Walter Todd and Bella Ruth McAdoo Sheaffer.

She was a homemaker and had been a receptionist for Dr. Gordon Snyder and Dr. John Knauss in Mercer.

Mrs. Calhoun was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, and its Day Timers and Fun Club.

Surviving are: her husband, Beryl Calhoun, whom she married Sept. 2, 1940; a daughter Ruth Anne Oviatt and her husband, Clinton, Erie; two sons, James W. Calhoun and his wife, Catherine, Hermitage; and Donald R. Calhoun and his wife, Catherine, Navarre, Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Her parents and two sisters No names given. Lisa preceded her in death.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (8-21-08) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer; and 12:30 p.m. until time of the service Friday (8-22-08) in Bethany Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Venango St., Mercer.

Service: Funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the church with the Rev. James Leuenberger, pastor, officiating.

Interment: Findley Township Cemetery.
