John Edward Elliott
Hickory High graduate, went to YSU, was retired


John Edward Elliott of 930 Hasenflu Drive, Hermitage, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 63.

Mr. Elliott was born Oct. 28, 1944, in Sharon to James Arthur Elliott and Ruth Katharine MacMullan Elliott.

A 1962 graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage, he attended Youngstown State University.

John was self-employed and retired.

He was a former member of the F.H. Buhl Club in Sharon, and enjoyed racquetball and handball. He also enjoyed computers and was of the Methodist faith.

John enjoyed traveling with his wife, the former Roberta Jean Vockroth, whom he married May 17, 1975. She survives at the residence.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Darcy Marie Elliott and her fiancé Ryan Silbaugh, Cranberry, Pa.; a son, Benjamin Sean Elliott, Hermitage; a brother, David Arthur Elliott and his wife Rosemary, Boston; and a sister, Katharine C. Elliott, Hermitage.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, David Elliott.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Library of the Shenango Valley, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon 16146.

Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday (9-4-08) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday (9-5-08) in the funeral home with the Rev. Sung Chung, pastor of West Middlesex United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
