Ella R. Critchlow, a resident of 720 Terrace Ave., Grove City, since 1947, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 83.
Mrs. Critchlow was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Grove City to Carl H. Snyder Sr. and Mary M. Moon Snyder.
She married Merle R. Critchlow on July 13, 1943. He died March 16, 1987.
She was formerly employed as a secretary for Dotty McGill School of Dance, Grove City. She was also a former housekeeper for various people in the Grove City area.
She was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City.
Ella was a member of the Rosary Altar Society of the church and a former religious education teacher for the parish. She was a former Girl Scout leader in Grove City.
She is survived by: her children, Angela West and her husband Robert L., Grove City; Cynthia Smith and her husband David A., Churchville, N.Y.; Christopher G. Critchlow, at home; and Monica J. Hawkey and her husband George, Alderson, W. Va.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; and three sisters, Lena M. Walter, Grove City; Anna Belle Pearson and her husband Murl, Spearman, Texas; and Betty J. Seelbaugh, Grove City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Jr., Lewis and Walter Snyder; four sisters, Goldie Winder, Rachel Kaltenbaugh, Virginia Covert and Mary McKibben; and an infant granddaughter.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Saturday (9-6-08) in Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City, with the Rev. Mark A. Hoffman as celebrant.
Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
