Published September 05, 2008 01:02 pm - Bertram A. Mueller of Garden Avenue, Grove City, formerly of Bruin, Butler County, passed away at noon Thursday (9-4-08) in Family Hospice Manor, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. He was 93.

Bertram A. Mueller of Garden Avenue, Grove City, formerly of Bruin, Butler County, passed away at noon Thursday (9-4-08) in Family Hospice Manor, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. He was 93.

A son of the late Frederick Max and Ann B. Weiss Mueller, he was born July 5, 1915, in Altoona, Pa.

Mr. Mueller grew up in the Children’s Home in Zelienople, after losing his parents at the age of 4.

A graduate of Grove City College, he served with the Marines as a platoon sergeant in the South Pacific during World War II.

He married the former Ada Rose Peden on Aug. 29, 1947. She survives at home.

He served at the same time on three school boards of the Seneca Valley Jointure, as president of both the Evans City and Jackson Township school boards and as vice president of the Zelienople Jointure.

Mr. Mueller belonged to the Shenango Valley chapter of the Penn-Ohio Singers’ Barbershop Chorus and was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, where he was in the choir and served as treasurer of the Tri-Fidelis Sunday school class.

He retired from Penreco Inc., Karns City, where he was a cost accountant and payroll administrator.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine children, Janet Corbett and her husband James, Grove City; Frederick Mueller and his wife Kathy, who are missionaries in Russia; Margaret Juliano and her husband Paul, Cranberry Township, Butler County; Carl Mueller and his wife Laurie, Bruin; Mary Ridley and her husband Paul, Bradford, Pa.; Dr. James Mueller and his wife Rene, Isle of Palm, S.C.; Richard Mueller and his wife Lisa, Erie; Dr. Robert Mueller and his wife Dr. Katherine Mueller, Grove City; and John Mueller and his wife Nancy, East Butler; and 42 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Mueller; and a brother, Robert E. Mueller.

Memorial contributions may be made to East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday (9-6-08) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, and 2 p.m. to time of service Sunday (9-7-08) in the parlor of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday (9-7-08) in East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main St., Grove City, with the Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating.
