Published October 04, 2008 03:31 pm - Dorcas E. Cornelius, of 709 Southview Ave., Pine Township, passed away at 2:32 a.m. Saturday (10-4-08) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. She was 89.

Dorcas E. Cornelius, of 709 Southview Ave., Pine Township, passed away at 2:32 a.m. Saturday (10-4-08) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. She was 89.
A daughter of the late Robert and Rachel Miller Shipton, she was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Grove City.
She married Albert Boyd “Pete” Cornelius on June 14, 1940. He passed away on May 27, 1996.
Mrs. Cornelius was a homemaker and also had worked at the former Demitru Bakery and the former J.C. Penney store, both in Grove City.
She was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Grove City.
Mrs. Cornelius is survived by two children, Sue Ketcham and her husband, Charles “Bud,” of Sharon; and Gary L. Cornelius, of Grove City; three grandchildren, Randall, Erica and Nichole Ketcham, all of Sharon; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Hoffman, Verla Glessner and Violet Shipton; and four brothers, Irvin, Robert Jr., Victor and Kenneth Shipton.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (10-7-08) in the funeral home with Rev. Edwin Dixon, associate pastor of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Grove City, officiating.
Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
