Dorothy Meadows, 70 Fairmont Drive, Hermitage, formerly of Bristolville, Ohio, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after a heart attack. She was 88.
Mrs. Meadows was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Cannelton, W.Va., to James and Rosie Crump Oiler.
A homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family.
As a very dedicated Christian, she enjoyed reading the Bible.
Her husband, Denver Meadows, whom she married May 11, 1940, passed away Jan. 7, 1976.
Surviving are: six daughters, Bertha Rose Johnson and her husband Warren, Bristolville; Nelhelma Jewell Holmes, Wallace, Texas; Katherine Sue Holmes and her husband Robert, Farmington, Ohio; Sirretta Marie Hornyak and her husband Kevin, Greene Township, Trumbull County; Princess Arvonda Belden and her husband Molder, Bristolville; and Dove Olane Blair and her fiancé Gary Keeley, Hermitage; six sons, Okey Ray Meadows and his wife Sharon, Pomeroy, Ohio; Dale Anderson Meadows and his wife Wanda, Cleveland; Lawrence Edward Meadows and his wife Judy, North Royalton, Ohio; Charles Dewey Meadows and his wife Candace, Bristolville; Troy Lynn Abraham Meadows and his wife Donna, Reynolds, Ind.; and Delaford Matthew Meadows and his wife Maxine, Mercer.
She also leaves five sisters, Marjie Sims, Margret Brown, Virginia Oliver and her husband Enos, Phyllis Myers and Susie West; and a brother, Max Oiler and his wife Janet.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her extended family members.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Alahoma Jean Beaver.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caretakers, Dawn Hummell, Thomas Blair and Sirretta Hornyak.
