Published October 27, 2009 05:41 pm - Antoinette “Ann” R. Lapikas of Hermitage, formerly of Hunter Street, Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday (10-27-09) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, of natural causes. She was 90.

Antoinette “Ann” R. Lapikas of Hermitage, formerly of Hunter Street, Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday (10-27-09) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, of natural causes. She was 90.

Mrs. Lapikas was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Black Lick, Pa., a daughter of James and Rose Ferrara.

A homemaker, she belonged to St. Bartholomew’s Church in Sharpsville, where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

Ann knew her way around the kitchen and in years past enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.

Her husband, Steve J. “Butch” Lapikas, whom she married April 29, 1939, passed away Nov. 26, 1996.

She is survived by: her two sons, Thomas S. Lapikas and his wife Victoria, Hermitage; and Daniel J. Lapikas and his wife Doris G., South Pymatuning Township; a sister, Mary Sike, Coraopolis; six grandchildren, Thomas S. Lapikas and his wife Lisa, Lauri Bruno and her husband Anthony, Jon Lapikas and his wife Sonya, Aaron Lapikas, David Lapikas and her granddaughter whom she raised, Timary Droney and her husband Raymond; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mary Lynn Lapikas Cole; a sister, Nellie Laslo; and four brothers, Sam Ferrara, John “Tot” Ferrara, Andy Ferrara and Joe Ferrara.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Bartholomew’s Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, PA 16150.
