BUTLER — Virginia C. McClain of Kepples Corners, Kittanning Pike, Chicora, Pa., passed away at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, in Butler Hospital after a brief illness. She was 90.
Mrs. McClain was born on March 17, 1919, in Karns City, as a daughter of James Eden McCollough and Clara Jordan McCollough.
She graduated from Karns City High School Class of 1937.
Virginia was a member of Karns City United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir and served as a youth counselor.
For a number of years, she and her husband operated the Maples Restaurant in Karns City and. in the 1970s, served as foster parents.
Her husband, J. Greer McClain whom she married on June 24, 1942, in Cumberland, Md., preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1999.
Surviving are: two daughters, Patricia L. Reinhardt, Chicora; and Susan K. McClain, Plum, Pa.; a son, J. Greer “Sonny” McClain and his wife Lori, Centerville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jason V. Hepler, Keystone Heights, Fla.; Amanda J. Tison and her husband Eugene K., Stark, Fla.; Alicia N. Hepler, Windermeer, Fla.; Justin H. McClain and his wife Casey, Lebanon, Ohio; Amy Jo McClain, Miamisburg, Ohio; and Jonathan A. McClain, Springboro, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie A. Tison, Stark; Audrey Mae McClain, Lebanon; and Michelle A. Tison, Stark; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Frederick McCollough; and three sisters, Mary Dunmyre, Alice Green and Elsie Gaiser.
