---- — McALLEN, Texas -- Marian Ryland Ruhlman Amey Briggs of Mission, Texas, formerly of the Shenango Valley, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, in McAllen Medical Center. She was 83.

Mrs. Briggs was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Pittsburgh to George and Mini Ryland.

She was married to George W. Amey Jr., who passed away Aug 2, 1998. Together they owned and operated Ju-Di Gardens pet shop for many years in the Sharon and Hermitage areas.

Marian was member of the Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Unit 432, Wheatland; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 55, Farrell.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar Briggs, at home in Mission; and three children, Dick Ruhlman and his wife Susan, Guntersville, Ala.; Judi Welch and her husband Charlie, West Middlesex; and Star Terry and her husband Dennis, Rome, Ohio.

Also surviving are a brother, the Rev. Donald Ryland and his wife Donna, Fredonia; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilkerson, Bartow, Fla.

She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Amey; a son, Neil Ruhlman; a sister, Bell Ireland; a brother, Jim Ryland; and a great-grandson, Cody DeMuth.

A celebration of a life well-lived will be held today (5-5-10) in Mission.
